The Devil Wears Prada
February 18, 2007Just finished watching The Devil Wears Prada. I didn’t read the book, and I’d say that the movie is very much not what I was expecting. Well, I did read the first couple of pages of the book, but the tone of it was already very different from that of the movie.
Generally a good watch, and I enjoyed the transition. I especially loved the scenes where Andy’d walk one street but as she passes a lamp-post or pillar she gets new clothes and attire… it’s really interesting and the clothes are nice. I wonder if I could dress like that to work. Probably not. Stick to suits…
However, while it’s a success in its own way, I don’t think it really portrays what was in the book. I’m not sure whether this is what a good movie-from-a-book is supposed to be, but from what little of the book I’ve read, the book was more about the minute difficult tasks like driving her difficult car and getting that dog (which I think in the movie was a St. Bernard or something).
So, I enjoyed the show, I saw pretty dresses, and it was a nice afternoon spent on the movie.
